Power Engineering Construction has been a leader in marine and heavy civil construction for nearly four decades. We remain focused on continuing to provide construction excellence while ensuring the relevance and longevity of our company. A key aspect of our strategy is elevating dynamic project leaders into our ownership ranks. Our owners set and lead the company’s overall direction and instill its vision and values at every level.
We’re excited to announce four new members of our ownership group:
Jeff Van Meter, PE
Jeff has been with Power for 15 years. With a lifelong inclination toward engineering and construction, he earned his civil engineering degree with the goal of applying his skills hands-on in the construction industry. He spent a decade working in the field, progressing from intern to Project Manager. Jeff’s interest and exceptional skill in estimating and value engineering emerged and he transitioned into the estimating department five years ago. Today, he is our Director of Estimating, leading preconstruction, scheduling, and estimating for Power’s complex marine and heavy-civil construction projects. Jeff has played an essential role in the company’s successful expansion throughout Southern California.
Marc Service
Marc has been with Power for 15 years. He started as an intern in 2009, then hired on as a project Engineer. Marc was promoted to Project Manager in 2014. Growing up in a family business, he developed a strong foundation in customer service. Marc has successfully led two of Power’s highly complex Design-Build projects: a ferry terminal for the Water Emergency Transportation Authority in Alameda and a heavy-civil infrastructure project for Silicon Valley Clean Water, where he mastered jack-and-bore microtunneling and bypass tie-ins at an active water treatment plant. Marc will continue to lead projects with a creative and supportive approach that resonates with both clients and team members.
Brian Shalk, PE
Brian brings 15 years of industry experience, beginning his career in tunnel and heavy construction then joining Power 10 years ago and growing from a Project Engineer to a Project Manager. He successfully led the steel floats and gangways design-build scope for Power’s largest the Downtown San Francisco Ferry Terminal expansion. Brian earned an MBA from UC Davis, building on his professional achievements and enhancing his leadership and strategic skills. Today, he is the driving force behind Power’s expansion of commercial diving services, introducing cutting-edge methods and technology to serve ocean outfall and subsea cable clients.
Scott Williams
Scott brings 16 years of construction experience, including 8 years at Power. He began his career at a global construction and engineering firm as a Project Engineer, later advancing to Project Manager with a focus on marine-related projects. In 2017, he joined Power as a Project Manager. One of his earliest achievements was leading a seismic upgrade on one of Power’s refinery clients’ wharves—navigating live fuel lines and tanker deliveries without disrupting operations. Scott’s expertise, leadership, and reliability quickly became evident. He is now spearheading Power’s expansion into Southern California, solidifying the company’s reputation as an industry leader in the region.
Join us in congratulating Jeff Van Meter, Marc Service, Brian Shalk, and Scott Williams on their well-deserved advancement in recognition of their many years of commitment and success.
